OurFB: Show Your Love on Our Site, Win Prizes

The gig pays nothing, the hours are inconsistent and the blog post to girls impressed ratio is surprisingly low. But each positive comment and shirt order keeps this hobby fun. And even though we’ve made the swift transition from blog that routinely misspelled Adam McCalvy’s name to a TMZ-linked, beer-reviewing blog that still routinely misspells Adam McCalvy’s name – something is still missing. Pictures of you in our shirts.

Until you feel the frangrant lather of a Dan Plesac/Mike Cameron bar on your skin, I’d keep the judging to a minimum.

Man, when i first glanced at that, my mind saw “fragrant LEATHER of a Dan Plesac/Mike Cameron bar”… and i was very afraid.
Ugh, too much baseball. Or??? Not enough?

God.
Damn.
It.
GODDAMNIT!
Craig Counsell is starting at Third. Again. AGAIN.
I am someone who really likes Counsell. But what the hell! I don’t want him as what will amount to an every-day guy at third because of a righty-lefty platoon. McGehee has a higher average and more power. If they wanted a left-hand stick in the lineup at third, bring back Mat Gamel.
We’ve seen Counsell at third. He’s average. He’s better at shortstop and MUCH better at second.
Fuck you, Ken Macha. Fuck you with a fishing pole.

So, for the last few nights, I’ve been playing a lot of Tony Larussa Baseball 95. I think that in terms of control and gameplay, it’s the best Genesis baseball game. Actually, it seems like the ‘95 series of games is where EA really hit it’s stride. Live 95 was the first to use the isometric point of view, NHL 95 is possibly the best hockey game ever (some say ‘94), Madden was Madden, and La Russa 95 was stupid good. The game had full rosters with a large selection of top prospects/ Triple-A guys with pretty accurate scouting reports (ablities rated 1-12, with my favorite Brewer (Jeff Cirillo) registering all 7’s (he was an unknown quantity), offered positioning options for the infield and outfield, the requirement of warming up relievers, and multiple “camera views”, with my preference being behind the pitcher.
The Brewers lineup in LR 95 features D. Hamilton leading off, Greg Vaughn hitting third, BJ Surhoff at 3rd. Jody Reed batting 8th?!?! B. Harper? Dave Valle? Awesome!
…. The rotation featured a top three of Eldred, Bones, and Navarro.
I honestly wish some romhacker would take the game engine of LR 95 and update the rosters. I’ve found both the 2k and The Show series’ to be something less than fun… The only thing better would be Base Wars on a next-gen system. Or Mutant League Football. YEA!
Anyone have any great game memories? I’ll be commenting and watching the game.

D’Amico,
I am hoping its just foolish thinking by Macha which is sad or it is a platoon idea. I am still not sure if mcgehee is 100 percent yet…

That’s been the lingering fear lurking in the dank shadows of my mind… Is Casey more hurt than they’ve let on?
But if that were the case… put him on the DL and bring back Gamel. Let Maty play. But they don’t, which leads me to think they’re saving him as a trade chip.

Melvin was on 1250 WSSP today and said that McGehee is going to “gut” through his injury and that it will require surgery after the season. It sounds pretty serious…

On a related note I was playing show the other night… had a no no with Gallardo into the 9th on the road against the Marlins…. so I got 1 out man on first (HBP). They then bunt with Hanley Ramirez which works I have never in my life been so mad… I no longer have the show…

I’ve always been partial to Bases Loaded II for Nintendo. It’s not flashy or true to the game like the new games, but it is easily my favorite baseball game for any system. I can grab a remote without playing for months or even years and pick it back up in minutes. Sometimes simple is more fun.

Game called baseball simulator for super nintendo is pretty awesome the countless brewers rosters I made on create-a-team… also making them better than real life obviously

The show frustrates me soooo much. It’s got that madden thing where it will just decide “no, i’m not going to let you win, no matter what”. I hate it. but the 2k Series is worse. The pay no attention to updating the rosters… as a matter of fact, I have 2k9 for my psp, and they still don’t have a picture of Ryan Braun in the game. Like, a guy who’s been was an all-star and the rookie of the year, they don’t have an ingame picture of. Or Rickie Weeks, who’s been in the majors for how many seasons!?!?!?!
Bases Loaded is a great one. I guess because i was a Sega kid i don’t know alot of the Nintendo classics, save Base Wars. Gosh, i love that game.
So… McGehee’s knee is bad enough that he has to “gut” through it? Damn you, Melvin. BRING BACK GAMEL. I’m sorry, but to play Craig Counsell as your everyday 3rd baseman is to waste a corner, power position. Put Casey on the DL, get him fixed up, and give us Mat. NAO.

Are we doing our usual get people on every inning but never get a clutch hit again tonight?
July 21st, 2009 at 6:57 pm
I’ve got to say… I like Braden Looper. I know he’s basically a Jeff Suppan type… But… I like him. He looks like the Edgar suit from MiB, sure, but he throws low strikes and can eat a few innings.

Yeah, its like watching the Brewers in the Jose Hernandez era. Freakin’ horrible. I don’t know what’s going on, but everything they hit is to someone.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:01 pm
AHHHH!! THEY SHOWED IT!!!
Kendalls injury against the Brewers. That was something I never wanted to see again.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Nice, Braunie. Another weak bouncer to the left hand side with runners in scoring position.
Tell you what. Worry less about Remetee designs and more about maybe getting a freaking sac fly.
Douchebag.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:17 pm
That Kendall injury is brutal. Why did they show that again?
The Jenkins broken ankle injury is right up there with that one though too.
July 21st, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Yeah, that one was bad, too.
I’ll never forget that Kendall injury, though. His ankle flopping as he took a few more steps before he realized what had happened….
July 21st, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Nice play by Cam.
I still say he’s the best Brewers CF since Darryl Hamilton…
July 21st, 2009 at 8:03 pm
Yeah, two nice plays. He makes that play on the warning track look easy, but very few guys even make that catch.
