Brewers to Name Ken Macha New Skipper Today

As Tom Haudricourt, our own Jared, and pretty much every other butterface in and around baseball has predicted, the Milwaukee Brewers are set to name Ken Macha the club’s newest manager in a 2 p.m. (CST) press conference Thursday.

Macha’s last gig came as manager of the Oakland Athletics where he led the team to a 368-280 regular season record over four seasons (2003-2006). The A’s also won two AL West titles under Macha during that period.

Congrats, Ken. I’m glad to have you aboard.

Now let the offseason begin!

Update: Tom Haudricourt is reporting Macha is signed for two years, or through 2010. No word on coin at this time.

Congrats again, Ken. I’m looking forward to seeing what you can do with this young team.

    It was the right choice.

I’ll stake my (non-existent) reputation on it.

  2. Joe Says:

Wohh! Good thing that came true, right Jared?

  3. scottage cheese Says:

Adios Maddux. You did a subpar job here in Milwaukee. Would’ve been better had it not been for all the nagging injuries!

  4. Johnny Says:

    ReMachable.

  5. Tyler Says:

    It’s Ja-Macha-ing me crazy.

  6. kade in dubuque Says:

Mach and Bake baby….. Mach and bake……….

  7. Joe Says:

Maddux did a sub-par job in Milwaukee? Though you clearly meant sarcasm, I think you nailed it right on the head with the injury comment. The majority of the woes in his tenure have been due to injury (see Ben Sheets). Maddux, until very recently, has never had a lot of talent to work with. Though Turnbow is back to being horrible, he probably had no business ever being half as good as he was. Who helped turn around Mota, Torres, Shouse, or even Gagne later this season. He’s not a miracle worker and he may not be a Dave Duncan, but he certainly isn’t a guy I want to see go.

  8. Sporty Says:

Are we bringing back the Macha-reena?

  9. Tyler Says:

Ken looks to be a Macha integrity on the Brewers organization.
