I think it's pretty cool Freddy Sanchez wants to stay a Pirate. Now, as much as factors like 1. He possibly wouldn't start on half the teams in the league, and 2. The $8M team (or vested) option for 2010 he went out of his way to mention he didn't care about... might lead to his willingness to stay in Pitsburgh, it also seems like he sees good times coming for a franchise with a sad recent history, and he wants to be part of it. Having your All-Stars want to stay instead of bolt for greener pastures seems a necessary step in turning the corner towards respectability as a franchise. But if Sanchez is so set on making the Pirates into a winner, I'm not so sure why he went to Jack Wilson to encourage he ask for an extension. His last contract is killing their payroll presently - and he's awful... and on a side, hideous. But still, cool story about Sanchez.
