Week 3 Record - 3-3
Overall Record - 11-7
What I Like:- When Gagne is 1-2-3 (I hear ya, posters!)
- Yovanni Gallardo's very strong first outing
- Jason Kendall (.538), Prince Fielder (.538), and Corey Hart's(.500) average with runners in scoring position
- Not relying on the long ball away from home (The Brewers hit only .233 and still were able to capitalize and manufacture runs on the road)
- Winning 2 out of 3 road series
- Ben Sheets' phenomenal start to the season
- Strong outing by Jeff Suppan
- Paul Bako and Ryan Freel getting tossed for arguing for the exact opposite thing. Bako got tossed arguing that a pitch was a strike, Freel getting tossed for arguing a pitch WASN'T a strike.
- Mitch Stetter this week (especially the two inning, 4 K outing he had today)
What I Don't:- Gagne closing four games in a row (we have 3 pitchers who have been closers at one point or another; they can be used as well)
- Half of the Brewers starters not making 6 innings. Yes, I know it's three weeks in a row, but it truly scares me to think about the relievers' arms in August and September
- The words "Sheets" and "Injury" uttered in the same sentence
- JJ Hardy and Rickie Weeks' batting averages hovering around the Mendoza line, but it's still to early to get overly concerned
Numbers of the Week:.314 - Brewers average with runners in scoring position for the year
0-3, 7.02, .290 - Dave Bush's record, ERA, and Opp. BA
1-2, 6.19, .338 - Carlos Villanueva's record, ERA, and Opp. BA
(Which one would you take out of the rotation?)
9-17 - 2007 Brewers Road Series Record (Something to keep in mind)
