In the News (4/1)

No game today and not much news either...

- Matt LaPorta blogs about his spring. He's been sent to the AA team in Huntsville, where he switched positions to right field (from left). Will Hart transition to center when LaPorta comes up? Could be interesting to watch.

- The Brewers like Gabe Kapler's approach. Yost says, "He's got Brady Clark mentality with more talent."

- Counsell has seen results with a change in his batting stance. I have to admit I wasn't thrilled to see him up in the 10th yesterday, but he came through in a big spot.

- Mike Vandermause asks what we all wonder, "Why does anyone root for the Cubs?"

- Former Brewer prospect Callix Crabbe made the Padres team out of spring as a Rule 5 draft pick. We'll have to keep an eye on him since he has Brewer connections. If the Padres send him down, they have to offer him back to Milwaukee.

- Former Brewer Jaime Navarro is now the pitching coach for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

- For the vegetarians: Here are some meat-free tailgating recipes.

- Did I mention, I HATE April Fool's jokes? I always prepare myself on the morning of April 1 for reading stories I know not to believe. I did the same this year. On a short break from work this afternoon, however, I stumbled upon THIS POST and had a brief moment of elation. By the time I got to the end of the story, I knew it was too good to be true and this line confirmed my thoughts, "Oh, by the way, Happy April 1st." Jerks...

A fellow veg, I plan to get more experimental in my tailgating than the traditional Boca Brat this season.

You should see them soy chicken breasts I have marinating in a homeade sauce for Saturday's game.

I'll try to post some recipes for the quality experiments as they come.
